Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition Help

New and Changed in Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition Update 10

The following items summarize the new features and enhancements in the Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition Update 10 release.

iTwin Workflows
  • Ability to attach models directly from iModel in connected projects.
  • Import iModel tool allows you to import equipment from an OpenPlant Modeler file that is attached directly from an iModel.
PlantSight Integration (Technology Preview) You now have the option to persist project data inside an iModel in PlantSight as an alternative to a SQL Server database which provides the following benefits:
  • Facilitates distributed engineering workflows making it possible for users from different offices to easily collaborate and perform cable routing on the same project.
  • No SQL Server database is required which means less IT maintenance to administrate projects.
Support for routing underground cables You can now use the Ductbank Router to generate underground Cable Routes without conduit. In this way you can perform cable routing underground without actual conduit.

Cable routing to a Cable Route will now route to the nearest perpendicular connection along the cable route rather than being forced to enter at one end or the other of the route as is done for conduit.

Automatically Generate Conduits between Equipment The AutoPlace Conduit tools have been expanded to provide an additional option for automatically generating conduits from one equipment to another. The original tool has now been renamed to clarify the distinction between the two options that are now available:
  • AutoPlace Conduit - Raceway to Equipment
  • AutoPlace Conduit - Equipment to Equipment
Editable Cable Status Date/Time You can now manually set the date/time for any change in the cable status in the event that you need to adjust it.
You can also enter the date in any of the Windows supported formats as shown below:
Enhanced Dynamic Divider Calculation Rules When raceway divider section sizes are dynamically calculated the software will now calculate the total spare capacity and divide it among all the sections. Here is an example of a raceway with 2 dividers:
  • We will have 3 sections for the raceway when we have 2 dividers.
    • For section 1, we don't have cable routed, so fill 0% of the raceway.
    • For section 2, we have cable routed and fill 10% of the raceway.
    • For section 3, we have cable routed and fill 30% of the raceway.
  • So now we have 60% spare of the raceway. Then we split the 60% spare raceway to the 3 sections, that's 20% for each.
    • For section 1, the section percentage will be 0% + 20 = 20%.
    • For section 2, the section percentage will be 10% + 20 = 30%.
    • For section 3, the section percentage will be 30% + 20 = 50%.

So for each section, it will have 20% spare.

Faster Display of Cable Routing Results After performing cable routing the results are now loaded and displayed in the Cable Manager Cable Manager much faster than in previous versions.
Enhanced Raceway ID Tool to support window selection of Raceway Segments Enhanced Raceway ID Tool's "Add multiple segments (selection)" to allow users to perform a window selection in the model. This would then list all selected raceway segments in the ID dialog so that the user can reassign all IDs as required.
Improved Routing Diagnostics The software will now report the element ID of any raceways that are responsible for failed cable routing making it easier for you to identify the particular segment responsible.
Faster File Close Closing files is much faster in update 10 as we now persist last used configurations in JSON format instead of an INI file.
Map Equipment Types to different IFC Classes Previously all equipment was associated with the ECClass Device. Now you can specify different class mappings in the ECClasses.xml file which you can then map to different IFC classes when exporting to IFC.

e.g. Map equipment junction boxes to IfcJunctionBoxType.

Optimized Routing Connectivity Tool Opening the Routing Connectivity Tool now displays a progress bar while loading to indicate the current status and the performance of it has been significantly improved.
New Raceway Router Setting allows you to specify conduit insertion point A new setting in the Layout Configuration of the Raceway Router dialog named "Align center" will set the offset value to the center of all conduits being routed.
Reporting Enhancements
  • When using the Output Manager to produce a Detail_Cable_Route_List_IV report you can now set the size of the images when using the Export Images button.
  • The PCODE field was enlarged in the default BOM report so that it can fully display the part numbers.
Content Enhancements
  • Added reducers to generic raceway systems.
  • New OBO catalogs were added to the Metric dataset.
  • The cable type raceway weights in the Imperial dataset were changed from Metric to Imperial units (lbs/1000ft rather than kg/1000m).
  • New Mita Raceway Systems are added to the Metric dataset.
  • New Roxtec transits have been added to the Metric datasets.
  • New catalog for wall openings allows you to place penetrations in the walls for cables to pass through.
New Ideas Portal Access the new OpenPlant Ideas portal (https://openplant.ideas.aha.io/) from the Help ribbon Tab inside of Bentley Raceway and Cable Management. Use this portal to submit your product improvement suggestions, vote on other ideas, and provide feedback.
New Maintenance Key-in In a rare situation where the graphics for a raceway element is no longer displayed in the model even though it still exists in Project Explorer, you can run the following key-in to restore the element in the model: RCMRECOVERYHIDDENELEMENTS
